People need to have greater latitude to use their property as they believe best, including building homes for their families and children. The demands, restrictions, and inequities of the Growth Management Act must be addressed, incorporating the views of all stakeholders. Restrictions on landowner ability to divide large parcels of land has contributed to high land prices and scarcity of buildable land. It has also contributed to a lack of small, more affordable agriculture-zoned land, where younger couples can create a small farm. The goal is to restore balance in contrast to the present extremes to better respect private property rights, more practical land use, and a stronger local economy.
